Extracurricular
Athletics
The philosophy of the St Matthew athletic program is that athletics is one of numerous opportunities that our school offers for students to develop a growing relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Through our athletic program, we help students to learn and apply Christian principles into their daily lives. Functioning under the principle that all students who want to participate do, athletics allow opportunities for students to deal with success, as well as frustrations and failures. Participating in an organized sport provides students with opportunities for understanding teamwork and maintaining proper Christian attitudes.
We strive to help our students develop technically correct physical skills, physical conditioning, commitment, self-discipline, encouragement, perseverance, and dedication. Most importantly, win or lose, we learn how to glorify His name through all things.

Destination Imagination
The Lord has truly blessed our school with tremendous support and enthusiasm for the Destination Imagination program. DI is an after school program that encourages creative problem solving and team work. Teams are generated by age levels. Each team selects a problem that appeals to their interest level. Each team works from October to February striving to meet and solve the established criteria. This year, we have 9 teams consisting of 54 students participating in DI. WE LOVE DESTINATION IMAGINATION!
Band
Formal band instruction is available for any interested student in grades 5-8. Band instruction occurs twice a week and is divided into beginning and advanced placement.
