A Fun Week Being The Light!
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill can not be hidden.” Matthew 5:14
This year, our school motto is “Be The Light”, and what an enjoyable week it has been watching our students shine Jesus’ love throughout our community and world! Listed below are just a few examples of their faith in action:
Preschool - Grade Two
Our Preschool through Second Grade students enjoyed a special visit from the Walled Lake Fire Department, where they learned valuable fire safety tips and had the opportunity to meet some of our local heroes. To express their gratitude and support, our students and families donated healthy snacks for the firefighters to enjoy. Each snack bag was made even more special with handwritten notes filled with encouragement, appreciation, and God's love. It was a wonderful way for our students to thank those who faithfully serve and protect our community.
Third and Fourth Grade
In just two weeks, our third and fourth grade students will have the exciting opportunity to teach a variety of International classes about the American tradition of pumpkin carving. As they carve pumpkins together, our students will also have the opportunity of sharing the Gospel message with our International Friends, using this fun activity as a meaningful way to share the Gospel.
Fourth Grade
For the past month, our fourth grade classroom has looked more like a Staples warehouse than a classroom! After weeks of collecting, organizing, and packing school supplies, students filled 42 boxes containing the amazing amount of 275 School Kits! On Monday, the fourth graders loaded all of the boxes into Mr. Welte's trailer, and he delivered them to the Lutheran World Relief collection center. From there, the kits were loaded onto semi-trucks and will be distributed by Lutheran World Relief to children around the world, providing them with the supplies they need to learn. What an amazing example of God's love in action!
Fifth Grade
Last week, our 5th graders let their “Lights” shine as they did an amazing job organizing the trailer filled with filled with donated clothing for the Oakland County Foster Closet. Our prayer is that these clothes will now bless others!
Sixth Grade
Last Friday, grades 6 - 8 spent the day “Being the Light” in various capacities.
It was a beautiful day for our sixth graders to help others by visiting the Wixom Community Garden at the Wixom Campus of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Students worked hard to get the garden cleaned up and ready for winter. The students also worked hard to clear overgrown brush along the perimeter of the Walled Lake campus of the church. Thank you, and way to go, 6th grade!
Seventh and Eighth Grade
During a beautiful fall day last Friday, our seventh and eighth graders traveled to the Forgotten Harvest Farm where Peter Piper would have been so proud watching our passionate pupils pick 2,620 pounds of peppers for people in need. We are profoundly proud of our persistent and purposeful pupils! (Say that 10 times really fast!)
What beautiful opportunities for our students to shine Christ’s love throughout our community through acts of kindness, hard work, and compassion. Thank you for partnering with us to raise children who not only learn about Christ but also strive to love, serve, and live like Him each day.
