Have you experienced a time when darkness instantly changed everything?  

When the power goes out, our house suddenly becomes quiet and dark. However, my neighbor is blessed to own a Generac generator. While everyone else is searching for flashlights and candles, his house remains bright because his generator automatically kicks in and provides power as soon as the house becomes dark during a power outage.

What a perfect picture of what God calls us to be… lights that remain shining bright!

Our school theme this year is “Be the Light”. In Matthew 5:14, Jesus tells us that we are the light of the world. That means when people around us are facing difficult, dark, or uncertain moments, we have an opportunity to bring the light of Christ to them.

We don't have to wait until everything is perfect. We don't have to be the smartest, strongest, or most talented person in the room. We simply need to let God's light and love shine through us.

A generator doesn't create light because it wants attention. It simply does what it was designed to do—provide power when it is needed. In the same way, God has placed each of us where we are for a purpose. He can use our kindness, our encouragement, our patience, our words, and our actions to bring His light to someone who needs it.

And here's the best part: we don't have to experience the darkness alone. God is always with us. His light doesn't run out, and His presence isn’t circumstantial.

So as we walk through this school year, let's remember our theme: Be the Light!

When someone feels left out—be the light.

When someone is hurting—be the light.

When someone needs encouragement—be the light.

When there is conflict—be the light.

When someone needs to see the love of Jesus—be the light.

Just as a Generac generator makes sure the lights don't stay off when the power fails, may our lives point people to the One whose light never fails.
