SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALI-DOCIOUS FUN AWAITS AS ST. MATTHEW LUTHERAN SCHOOL PROUDLY PRESENTS MARY
This week, President Dave Davis of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod District shared an inspiring devotion titled “On the Same Team.” In this thoughtful message, he reflected on the NFL Draft that took place last week, noting that no matter how talented each player may be individually, success ultimately depends on how well all players work together as a team.

He used this analogy to remind us that across the church at large, our congregations, all Lutheran schools, and child development centers, etc., are all part of the same team, united in purpose to share and glorify Jesus throughout the world. Each of us has a unique calling and a distinct set of gifts, but when we come together and serve collaboratively, remarkable things can happen for the Kingdom.
In the same way, the St. Matthew Lutheran School cast of Mary Poppins Jr. has been working together as a team since January learning lines, rehearsing songs, and practicing choreography. Behind the scenes, the crew has been mastering staging, lighting, the use of microphones, and operating the sound board. Talented parents have been sewing, constructing, and painting set pieces into the middle of the night! Meanwhile, the production team of Mrs. Geary, Mr. Czinder, and Mrs. Lancaster have been working tirelessly to attend to every detail. Each group has had its own unique role and responsibility, but when the entire team comes together, the results are truly powerful! And now, this Friday and Saturday evening, we have the joy of experiencing the incredible outcome of their combined efforts as St. Matthew Lutheran School proudly presents “Mary Poppins Jr.”
Mary Poppins tells the story of a magical nanny who arrives to care for the Banks children in London. With her unique and creative style of discipline and education, she takes the children on imaginative adventures. Along the way, Mary Poppins helps the entire Banks family rediscover the importance of kindness, joy, and family before she departs as quickly as she arrived.
During your theater visit, please stop by the “Spoonful of Sugar Cafe”, where you will have the opportunity to purchase Mrs. Banks’ homemade cookies, Mr. Banks’ edible kites, Bert’s Smoke Stacks, Mary Poppin’s Amazing Caramel “Pop” Corn, Michael’s Mischievous Pretzels, and Jane’s Practically Perfect Cake Pops. In addition, the buzz of the bees is that there will be Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious chocolate bars that will contain various prizes, including a Pool Party at Mrs. Palka’s house for the winner’s class of choice!
So as we wait with great anticipation for this amazing journey that we will be taking to London this weekend, let’s remember that with a little imagination, a touch of kindness, and perhaps just a spoonful of sugar, even the most ordinary moments can become something practically perfect in every way.
