When we learned last spring that after fourteen years of partnership, Novi Public Schools had decided to end Shared Time services with all of their parochial schools, the St. Matthew staff began to earnestly pray over this situation. Our God is so faithful, and He always provides! As only He could design, we are now partnering with Brighton Public Schools.
With great joy, I would like to introduce you to our new staff members. Each one of them is such a testimony to God’s goodness! Each teacher brings not only a wealth of experience and talent but also a deep commitment to educating children.
Mr. Eric Suchowesky is our new Art teacher. Mr. Suchowesky possesses a Bachelor of Science Degree in Graphic Design and Studio Art, as well as a Master of Fine Arts. Mr. Suchowesky’s favorite hobby is oil painting!
Mrs. Rosa de la Parte will be joining us to teach Spanish to students in Grades 1 - 8. Mrs. de la Parte was actually in Spain visiting her parents during our initial interview! In addition, we will share her talent with St. Paul Lutheran School in Ann Arbor! In her free time, Mrs. de la Parte enjoys spending time with her family.
Mrs. Wendy Burton is our new PE teacher, and she possesses a Bachelor of Arts Degree in PE, Science, and Elementary Education, as well as a Master of Arts in Elementary Education. In her free time, Mrs. Burton enjoys gardening, couponing, and DIY Projects!
Mrs. Michelle deMauriac is our new Advanced Math teacher. She possesses a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and General Science, as well as a Master’s Degree in Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene. In her free time, Mrs. deMauriac enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and new dog! She also enjoys the sound of waves, so the beach is her favorite and calm place!
We also have two beloved teachers who will return to St. Matthew. Mrs. Yvonne Welte earned a new title over the summer and is now a “Certified Google Educator”, and she will teach computer science to all K - 8 students. Mrs. Welte also enjoys reading and going on road trips with her family.
Mrs. Kathy Seremet will also return as our Music Teacher; she brings us a wealth of talent in her 40+ years of teaching experience. In her free time, Mrs. Seremet enjoys reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
We look forward to the blessings each of these teachers will bring into our children’s lives. We ask that you keep them in your prayers as they become a part of our St. Matthew community.
